Have only seen this tailless raccoon a couple of times, glad to see it has so far survived the Winter. It appears to me to be an older raccoon. I was told that it was likely the raccoon suffered an infection, perhaps as a baby that resulted in the loss of the tail. Who knows?
I'm not a cat person and I'm not in favor of people letting their cats roam free, especially when I feed birds. This cat is always on my property during the nighttime hours. I have wondered how it survives against the wild animals. In this clip you can see that it wins the standoff with a fox.
