Along the Harold R. Spencer Bluebird Trail. This male bluebird wintered here in Iowa and always came to the feeder when I whistled. It was very difficult when he was killed by a bird of prey. Nature is harsh, a person can either give up or continue on. Bluebirds are in need of safe nestboxes and humans to monitor them...there is no quitting.
For three days the bluebirds worked building a nest in another bird house. Each of these days I pulled sparrow nests out of this box, I was surprised how easily the sparrows gave up. With the house empty, the bluebirds moved back into their original house, building a beautiful nest and laying their first egg four days later. What will tomorrow bring along the Harold R. Spencer Bluebird Trail?
