In this image the coyote is standing so close in front of the tractor that we are stopped. He then lifted his leg and pottied as if to say this was his territory, before turning and trotting away in front of us. He is really quite a clown.
This is the reason the coyote is so fearless of the tractor. He associates it with freshly killed field mice. The farmer has never spooked the coyote and they seem to have a trusted relationship. Nobody would believe it if I hadn't captured it with my camera.
It was just unreal how close we could get to this coyote. Sitting on the fender of the tractor made for a very bumpy ride, along with the darkening dusk lighting, I'm grateful to have gotten these images.
