This nest is made out of grass, or hay, and is located on a Century farm. The eggs are shiny from being turned by the brooding mother for 13 days. They should hatch in the next day or two. Harold R. Spencer Bluebird Trail. iPhone image taken by my daughter Lindsay.
My family and I were extremely fortunate to watch a nest full of baby chickadees fledge...I still can't believe it. This nest was built in a traditional bluebird house, with nearly two inches of moss. Amazingly, one unhatched egg was left unbroken. This box is part of the Harold R. Spencer Bluebird Trail. iPhone image taken by my daughter Lindsay.
