UIHC AirCare first took flight April 1, 1979 as one of the first fifteen helicopter EMS programs in the nation. The AirCare program consists of two aircraft - AirCare 1 a Eurocopter EC-130 B4 based at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City and AirCare 2, an ASTAR 350-B2 based at Covenant Hospital, Waterloo.
